SMIL and Madagascar National Teams Meet with Country Leadership

Dr. Timothy J. Dalton and Nat Bascom from Kansas State University, K-State, as well as Dr. Alemu Tirfessa from Ethiopia, were back in Madagascar, continuing the development with national research teams for a long-term sorghum and pearl millet national program, including plant breeding, production enhancement, and market development.

This latest trip included a meeting with the Madagascar Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Harifidy Janset A. Ramilison, along with the national FOFIFA team to develop further the creation of a national sorghum and pearl millet stakeholder platform.

This accelerated development of sorghum and pearl millet systems to respond to climate change in Madagascar is funded through USAID Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Collaborative Research on Sorghum and Millet with the management entity based at K-State.
